Fuego reopens after 12 hours

After a 12-hour deep cleansing in light of a Salmonella outbreak linked to the restaurant, Fuego Tortilla Grill reopened its doors.

The Brazos County Health Department learned of possible cases of a foodborne illness from the Texas Department of State Health Services in January. Samples obtained from Fuego on May 13th showed that four of the 36 samples contained Salmonella.

No deaths have been reported from this outbreak.

In addition to the cleaning, Fuego will begin using pasteurized liquid eggs instead of fresh, shelled eggs to limit exposure to the bacteria, which is commonly found in egg and poultry products.
