Harker Heights Police Department urges safety when purchasing items online via sites such as Craigslist.

Last week, officers were actively working a case when they came across what turned out to be an attempted robbery that was initiated through Craigslist as a transaction meeting.

The subjects advertised what appeared to be a, “too good to be true deal” on Craigslist. The subsequent meeting revealed two felons in possession of firearms, with what seemed to be the intent to rob the customer. Both subjects were taken into custody.

Harker Heights residents, as well as neighboring communities, are reminded to use extreme caution in undertaking any such transaction through internet sites. If there is to be any type of exchange use a heavily populated area or better yet, have them meet you your local Police Department parking area, to ensure your safety.

As always our greatest concern is the protect and safety of our citizenry. Please contact the City of Harker Heights Police Department (254) 953-5400 with any questions or concerns.
