BRAZOS COUNTY -- Several cars collided in Brazos County this morning, shutting down both lanes of Highway 21 for hours.

The accident happened just after nine when a car traveling eastbound on Highway 21, near the Navasota River, tried to pass a truck with a trailer and hit another vehicle going westbound head-on, causing it one of the vehicles to flip and roll-over into a ditch.

DPS Sergeant Charles Booker said, "It was a pretty severe collision and it forced one of the vehicles to over-turn as a result of the collision. So it's pretty surprising that everyone survived the crash."

All three victims, including a mother and her small child, were transported to a local hospital.

The severity of their injuries are unknown.
