The Texas Department of State Health Services and the Waco-McLennan County Health District have announced that they will be working on a study to look into the injuries sustained from the West fertilizer plant explosion.

Following the blast, hundreds were injured, dozens of homes were destroyed, and a town was forced to rebuild. Now, more than 300 medical records are being accessed to provide insight to health officials on how to prepare for similar events in the future.

The study is expected to be completed by year's end.
