Waco, Tx — Preparations are underway at the Heart of Texas fairgrounds, as officials prepare for opening day this Thursday.
The "HOT" Fair and Rodeo has been a Waco tradition since 1953. And, this event is the largest fundraiser for the fair's scholarship program. All proceeds from the fair go to Central Texas students. To date, the fair has given out more than $2 million in scholarships since the early 90's. This event also helps bring in thousands of dollars to the local economy.
"The fair will be a lot of exciting things going on, with new attractions and new activities, our new birthing center, our new kids zone. You know, lots of things for families to come and do and really enjoy having a vacation right here in Waco," said Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo President and CEO Wes Allison.
The fair starts this Thursday, October 3 at 6 p.m. and will run through Saturday, October 12. For more information on exhibits, admission costs, and more, please visit www.hotfair.com.
