Hewitt, Tx — The Hewitt Police Department was given top honors by the National Association of Town Watches for the National Night Out event(s) that took place in the month of August, for cities under 15,000 populations.
The events, which were the National Night Out kickoff party and Neighborhood Watch block parties, were ranked by community attendance, media coverage/ releases, type of events held, and community participation. The Hewitt Police Department ranked seventh (7th) in the nation and first (1st) in the State of Texas for cities with a 15,000 and under population.
“This is a great achievement for the City of Hewitt. It shows how partnerships between citizens and law enforcement impact crime reduction in a community. Without community involvement in policing the mission becomes one sided. We are proud to hold these types of events and are humbled by the community support we receive.” –Chief of Police Jim Devlin
The Hewitt Police Department would like to thank all City of Hewitt citizens who attended, all those who volunteered, donated, and supported this worthy cause. Special Thanks to Officer Ann Thompson who coordinated this event and made it a great success.
