Hewitt, TX — Big progress in Central Texas’ I-35 widening project occurred today when the first major flyover in the area was opened up to the public.
The ramp will directly connect Spring Valley Road to Interstate 35 which will keep up to a thousand cars a day off of a nearby overpass.
City leaders from both Hewitt and Robinson were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The project broke ground a year ago and TxDOT engineers say the flyover is essential for future expansion.
“Right now this area is still growing," said Bobby Littlefield of TxDOT. "When we build something like this we hope to have it in service and be useful for the next thirty years. Hopefully it will eliminate a lot of accidents that could potentially occur.”
