BRYAN, TX — A convicted murderer is back in court and facing the death penalty after briefly escaping from a Huntsville prison, resulting in the death of a Texas Corrections Officer.

45-year-old John Ray Falk Jr. is charged with capital murder for the September 2007 death of officer Susan Canfield.

59-year-old Canfield died after being thrown from her horse when she was hit by a truck driven by Falk's get-a-away partner, inmate Jerry Martin.
