BRAZOS COUNTY, Tx (KYLE) — Six months after Constable Brian Bachmann was killed in the line of duty while serving an eviction notice, Bachmann's chief deputy has been appointed to take over his duties.

In the days following Brian Bachmann's murder, Jeff Reeves was appointed as the precinct's department head.

But now, Brazos County commissioners have formally appointed Reeves as Precinct 1 Constable following a state required six-month waiting period allowing Reeves to establish residency in the precinct.

Reeves, who has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, will serve as constable for the remainder of Bachmann's term.
