Killeen man indicted for attacking girlfriend, son with hammer

Killeen , tx — A Bell County grand jury has indicted a Killeen man on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child charges for reportedly attacking his girlfriend and her son with a hammer earlier this year.
Cecil Howell Jr. was arrested in mid-January, the night after the attack. Police say Howell hit his girlfriend in the face with a hammer around 1:30 a.m. on January 14. When the victim's son tried to come to her aid, Howell reportedly hit the boy as well. Howell was arrested later that night while walking in the 100 block of North College Street.
