Killeen PD investigating Thursday morning shooting

The Killeen Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that happened Thursday, on the north side of Killeen

Killeen Police officers responded to a 911 call in reference to a shooting that occurredat approximately 6:20 a.m., in the area of Murphy and Mimosa.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a 28-year-old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was immediately taken to the Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the area of Murphy and Mimosa when an unknown vehicle approached the area and the occupant fired several shots and fled the area. The victim ran towards a vacant apartment in the 900 block of Mimosa where he remained until officers found him.
