Killeen police investigate homicide on Fox Creek

The Killeen Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Fox Creek at 5:24 p.m. Friday, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived to find a 15-year-old male in the 1300 block of Fox Creek Drive suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:21 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. An autopsy has been ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and another male were involved in an altercation inside a dark Saturn in the 1300 block of Fox Creek. During the altercation, the driver shot the passenger. The passenger was able to flee the vehicle but collapsed on the sidewalk, just outside the vehicle. The driver was located and taken into custody in the 1200 block of Fox Creek. He is currently in the Killeen City Jail.

The name of the male in custody has been withheld until the Bell County District Attorney’s Office as reviewed the case and formal charges are filed.

Due to the victim’s age his name will not be released.
