Killeen Police looking for person involved in fatal hit-and-run

Killeen Police Department is investigating an early morning hit and run crash that ended in the death of one.

At 1:44 a.m. Thursday morning, officers were called to the 2200 block of Stan Schlueter Loop about reports of a man lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officials found a female laying in the roadway that had appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

Further investigation found that the female was walking in the westbound lane when she was struck by a car that had fled the scene.

Janice Marie Zeigler, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 a.m. by Justice of the Peace, Bill Cooke. 

Cooke ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

Traffic Unit Investigators are looking for a 2002-2005 Dodge Ram 1500, possibly blue in color, with right front damage.
