Killeen police make arrest in convenience store robbery
Killeen — Killeen Police arrested two males who robbed a convenience store today, Friday, July 13, 2012 shortly after 7:00am.
Officers responded to a 911 call advising the Sam’s Food Mart had just been robbed by two white males. The suspects had fled the area in a red new model Ford Mustang.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two white males entered the store at approximately 7:14am as if they were going to purchase some items. One suspect approached the counter and asked the clerk for an item as the other suspect went around the back of the counter with a long tube like device and demanded money from the clerk. The suspects then ran from the store; a witness saw the suspects leave the parking lot in a newer model red Mustang.
An officer in the area of Gray and Veteran’s Memorial Blvd noticed a red new model Ford Mustang parked on the west side of the Shell Gas Station. As he was investigating the vehicle he saw two white males inside the convenience store near the counter. One of the white males exited the store and the officer detained him immediately, another officer who was on scene detained the other white male. Through the investigation it was determined these two males and the red Ford Mustang were related to the Aggravated Robbery of the Sam’s Food Mart at 1603 Florence Rd.
The two males were taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail awaiting formal charges. This case will be screened by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office on Saturday, July 14, 2012, until then their names and photos have been withheld.
