Lacy Lakeview works on bringing new business to town
Lacy Lakeview, tx — The expansion of I-35 and the construction of the new Baylor stadium are both creating a opportunities for one Central Texas city to grow.
Lacy Lakeview is looking at new business prospects. Officials say now is the perfect time for them to assess what buildings are no longer necessary. This week, an old theater has been in the process of being torn down. It's located next door to Atwoods Hardware.
The city's mayor, Calvin Hodde, says the building has been vacant since the 1990's, and city leaders felt like it was time for it to go.
"This is something that we wanted to get torn down. From the city's aspect, it was really just becoming an eye-sore, just a really hard piece of property to move and sell. So, now with it coming down, we'll look really for the prospects that will come in now," said Hodde.
Hodde says the empty space could be turned into restaurants. But, no decision has yet been announced.
Realtors for the property say it's too early for them to comment at this time.
