The National Transportation Safety Board has announced plans "to put the country on a course to eliminate alcohol-impaired driving crashes" by changing the legal drinking limit from .08 to .05.

Reportedly, 10,000 people are killed in the US annually by wrecks involving drunk drivers. Research is now showing that even with a BAC at .05, a driver is significantly impaired and at risk of crashing.
