Local man awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to capital murder

WACO -- An Itasca man who is also McLennan County's longest serving inmate awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to capital murder in a 2008 double stabbing.

On June 15, Jeremy Lee Lowrey pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing 52-year-old Rebecca Leonard during a home invasion in October of 2008.

Lowrey has already been sentenced to life in prison for attempted capital murder of Leonard's boyfriend Jerry Patterson who was also stabbed and seriously wounded.
