Local students join others across the country to stand against bullying
HEWITT -- Today a Hewitt elementary school joined over one million students across the country in taking a stand against bullying.
Students at Castleman Creek Elementary along with 1.3 million students in 2,000 U.S. schools participated in the Stand4Change rally.
At noon all students stopped what they were doing, entered the hallways and joined hands.
"We want our students to understand the importance that as individual students and as a school collectively their actions the way they respond to others directly relates to if we have a bullying problem or not and they way they respond can help us stop the bullying problem all together," said Christy Bowling, counselor at Castleman Creek.
After the rally each student wrote a pledge stating they stand against bullying.
