Salado, TX — Interstate 35 will be completely shut down in Salado on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as crews install heavy-duty beams to support a future bridge overpass.
Starting Tuesday at 7 p.m., both southbound and northbound traffic will be diverted to feeder lanes near FM 2268.
The closure should end by 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
On-ramps at mile markers 282, 283 and 284 will all be closed.
The future bridge will be large enough to span six full lanes instead of the current four.
In fact, all overpasses along Interstate 35 from Williamson County to Hillsboro are due for replacement.
Southbound traffic will leave the freeway at Exit #283 (FM 2268) to the frontage road and reenter the main lanes at the first on-ramp south of FM 2834. The southbound off-ramp (#284) and on-ramp near Thomas Arnold Road will also be closed.
Northbound traffic will exit the freeway at Exit #283 (FM 2834) to the frontage road and reenter the freeway north of FM 2268. The northbound off-ramp at Grainger Road (#282) will also be closed.
