Man accused of stealing $139K worth of lottery tickets
Facing two felony charges
Woodway, TX — An HEB employee is facing felony charges after an investigation discovered he might have stolen a very large amount of lottery tickets from his work.
Woodway Public Safety Department was notified by the Woodway HEB that Charles Alan Jones, 35, might be responsible for stealing approximately $139,000 in Texas Lotto tickets.
Following speculation from the grocery store, an investigation conducted by the department shows that Jones had successfully collected nearly $30,000 in winnings with the Texas Lottery Commission.
Jones was charged with 2nd-degree felony Theft of Over $100,000 and a second similar felony charge of Claiming a Lottery Prize by Fraud.
Jones is currently in the McLennan County Jail.
