Man arrested following Mart convenience store raid
Mart, TX — A McLennan County man is behind bars while authorities investigate a gambling operation at a Mart convenience store.
Manjinder Singh, 25, is charged with several gambling charges, including keeping a place of gambling, gambling promotion, and possession of gambling device and on a federal immigration detainer without bond. Singh is reportedly the store owner’s nephew.
Mart police raided Valero Ruby’s Food Mart around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. At least two eight liner slot machines, $5,000 cash, and drug paraphernalia were seized from the store.
For now, the store is closed, and authorities are still working to identify the store’s owner. Police had heard reports of gambling at the store for a couple months.
