Man attempts to steal vehicle hours after being released from jail

A man who stole a vehicle in Tarrant County drove to Waco in search for another car to steal.

According to Waco police, on July 26, Waco officers were sent to a Home Depot located on Waco Drive, for a report of a suspicious person looking inside vehicles in the store's parking lot.

When officers arrived they questioned Jerry Richardson,53, as to why he was looking into the cars.

Police ran the plates of a pickup that Richardson was driving and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Tarrant County earlier that day.

Officers also found that the 53-year-old was let out of Tarrant County jail hours earlier. After being released, Richardson stole the pickup, where he then drove it to Waco.

Police say, Richardson was in Waco looking for another vehicle to steal.

Richardson is currently being held at McLennan County Jail.
