Waco , TX — A McLennan County grand jury has indicted a man accused of shooting at a sheriff's deputy in December after authorities responded to what they believed was an abduction.
Michael Joseph Alvarado is charged with three enhanced counts of aggravated assault on a public servant. Alvarado was reportedly in a vehicle near America's Storage, located on 12th Street around 2 p.m. on December 18. When officers tried to confront Alvarado about the reported kidnapping, they say he began firing a gun, hitting a deputy and himself.
Both men were treated and later released from the hospital.
Alvarado is being held on a $500,000 bond.
