A McLennan County jury has sentenced a man to 35 years in prison for his role in a 2012 four vehicle accident where he reportedly left the scene, leaving his 6-year-old daughter in the car.

Otis Dwayne Kirven, 27, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for enhanced  aggravated assault, which was count one of the indictment. He received 20 years in prison for a vehicle involved in an accident, enhanced for failure to stop and render aid, which was count two of the indictment. The sentences will run concurrent.

"Justice in this case has been served. Not only are we pleased with the jury’s verdict, but we are also pleased that they have taken appropriate steps to ensure that this defendant will not be a threat to anyone else in this community for a long time,” said Chris Bullajian, Assistant District Attorney.
