Man tries to hide meth while running away from officers

A Waco man was arrested after he tried to destroy crystal meth while running away from officers.

Anthony Ray Sardaneta, 28, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, failure to identify,tampering with physical evidence, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer.

According to Sgt.Swanton with the Waco Police Department, the 28-year-old was pulled over near the intersection of North 20th street and Windsor Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

Swanton said, after Sardaneta was pulled over, he took off on foot while trying to get rid of the meth that was on him. Sardaneta allegedly fought with officers and tried to take their Taser. Officers then tased Sardenta and apprehended him.

Following the arrest, police found approximately 4.3 grams of meth on the 28-year-old.

Sardaneta was booked into the McLennan County Jail on bonds totaling $82,000.
