Manslaughter convict sentenced to 50 years in jail
McLennan County — A three time felon has been sentenced to 50 years in prison by a McLennan County jury for killing a woman in an auto accident.
Jacob Scott Turner, 27, was charged with causing a wreck that killed a woman in Waco. Reports show Turner was driving 94 miles per hour in a 35 MPH zone on Bosque Boulevard when he hit and killed Peggy Jean Cantrell, 64, back in June 2011.
Turner admitted he was speeding because he had just bought cocaine and was trying to get home as quickly as possible.
The manslaughter convict also had prior convictions include prescription fraud and various drug offenses.
Turner was on parole when the crash happened. He will now serve a minimum of 25 years before he is eligible for parole.
