Police throughout Central Texas are looking for a fugitive believed to be armed and dangerous. It all started with a police chase in the town of Mart.

At around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night, two Mart Police officers spotted Teddie Davenport, a local man wanted on a prior evading arrest charge, driving around town.

Davenport led the two partners on a high-speed chase down back roads before speeding up to a turn on some gravel.

“The two officers were unable to make that turn and ended up wrecking their patrol car. The two officers were seriously injured and needed to be transported by ambulance to the hospital," said Chief Deputy Matt Cawthon of the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

Cawthon said the two officers have since been released.

Davenport was able to flee in a mid-2000's black, Ford F-150. Law enforcement in the area is now on high alert.

Davenport, who is supposedly using methamphetamine, is believed to be armed and dangerous.

“He has threatened to shoot it out with police," said Cawthon. "We believe he is armed with a pistol and possibly a scoped deer rifle.”

The county has enlisted help from the U.S Marshals office and urges anybody with information to come forward before the situation grows worse.

“He is probably going to be desperate," said Cawthon. "He may be looking to get out of town or out of the county, out of the state, or even out of the country."

"So, anybody with any whereabouts, please call either the McLennan County Sheriff’s department, The United States Marshals Office, the Mart Police Department, or their own local police no matter where it is.”
