Martin Luther King Jr. street closed in Bryan

Monday, November 26, 2012 - 5:01pm

Bryan driver's heads up: Larry Young Paving, working on behalf of the City of Bryan, will be closing Marin Luther King Jr. Blvd West between Harlem Lane and Bowery Street on Monday, November 26.

This closure is required in order to replace the drainage culverts at this location with a substantially larger structure to provide needed flood protection in this area, as well as a safe and secure traffic route during severe rainfall events. The closure should last 4-6 weeks depending on weather.

A 2-way traffic detour route will be established to re-direct traffic using Columbus Avenue, West 17th Street, and Harlem Lane, so drivers are cautioned to be aware of these traffic changes.

This work is part of a $351,873.50 project identified by the Bryan Storm Water Master Plan to increase flood protection and safety, and is funded by the City’s Drainage Utility Fee and Transportation Fee.
