Every year tourism saves every Texas household over 800 dollars in taxes.

To show just how much each house hold saves on taxes, the Mayors of Bryan and College station competed head to head in the Annual Tourism Savings Showdown.

The goal was to fill the their cart as close to $800 dollars as they could. Mayor Berry’s was the clear cut winner when her basket came within $5 dollars of the goal .

But Mayor Bienski had a different strategy. Since all of the groceries would be donated to the Brazos Valley food bank, he filled the carts as much as he could, almost doubling the goal of $800 dollars.

Making the real winner today the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
