Waco, Tx — A McLennan County Justice of the Peace is under investigation for reported discrepancies with mileage reimbursement forms.
The Texas Rangers are investigating into a case involving J.P. Jean Laster-Boone. A county auditor reportedly turned over evidence of irregularities of Laster-Boone's mileage forms. A J.P. can receive up to $360 in mileage reimbursement each month. Laster-Boone's reports are claimed to always come close to the maximum amount.
McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna confirmed the investigation was being conducted by the Texas Rangers on Friday.
“The Texas Rangers have officially begun an investigation into the actions of Judge E. Jean Laster Boone. The District Attorney’s Office will assist, when needed, but otherwise I will await their results,” said Reyna.
Laster-Boone's mileage forms were reportedly checked into after three former employees made claims that they'd followed her instructions to falsify forms.
