The McLennan County prosecutor who accidentally discharged coworker's handgun at the county courthouse earlier this month has been reassigned within the department.

In a press release, McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna said Greg Davis will replace Michael Jarrett as the First Assistant Criminal District Attorney.

Jarrett will continue much of what he did before discharging the gun on November 4.

Reyna said Jarrett has accepted responsibility and that we will now handle, “a special caseload designated by myself that will utilize his excellent trial skills."

"These and additional actions were necessary to ensure that this type of incident does not happen again and that the McLennan County Criminal District Attorney’s Office can move forward stronger than we were before."
