Friday, April 12, 2013 - 9:19am

Waco, Texas – On Saturday morning, April 13, Methodist Children’s Home youth, staff and members of the community will come together for the first ever Race To Connect 5K and One Mile Fun Run. The fundraising event will help to raise awareness of the MCH mission to offer hope to children, youth and families in Texas and New Mexico.

“We’re looking forward to having people from the community come see our beautiful 130 acre campus other than just the front of it along Herring Avenue. Plus this will give them an opportunity to see for themselves how we are helping families and youth through our programs,” said Allison Crawford, volunteer and special events coordinator for MCH.

There will be 230 participants who will follow a route through the historical and scenic MCH campus to Redwood Shelter in Cameron Park. The Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. The start/finish line will be on the MCH campus near the security station and Perkins Heritage Home.

Following the race, participants will be treated to breakfast provided by Rudy’s and awards will be presented. Winners of the race will receive awards specially made by MCH students who participate in the Ag Mechanics program.

Sponsors for the Race include Coca Cola, Oak Farms, Fairfield Inn – North, Hampton Inn, Rudy’s BBQ, Bailey Insurance, Naman Howell Smith & Lee, Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo Advisors and Quality Paint. For more information about the event, visit
