Middle school student hit by vehicle crossing school zone
HEWITT -- A local middle school student is hospitalized after getting hit by a car on his way to school.
This morning a Midway Middle School student was riding his bicycle in a school zone across the intersection of Hewitt Drive and Panther Way when a vehicle suddenly hit him.
Midway officials tell us the child was also accompanied by a crossing guard.
"The student was taken to the hospital by ambulance primarily as a precaution to make sure he was ok. He went through testing and he was back at school by lunch time," said Traci Marlin, Midway spokesperson.
Police tell us the driver 43-year-old Larry Lee Johnson says he didn't see the child or the crossing guard.
He was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license.
