A grant, funded by the Texas Transportation Commission on Friday, June 7, will afford Mother Neff State Park $1.3 million dollars in rennovations.

The money will go mostly toward constructing campsite pullpoints, new access roads, parking lots, and repairing existing roads. The project covers about a five mile spanse.

Knife River is the authority in charge on the project, and is expected to begin this summer. Work is slated to be complete by fall 2014.

Back in November of last year, park officials announced that 142 acres had been donated to the oldest state park in Texas. This was the first expansion for Mother Neff State Park, since opening in 1937. The park now boasts 401 acres of land.
