WACO -- Mother Neff State Park in Moody is about to double in size.
The state park has been approved to purchase two pieces of land next to the property adding 142 acres.
The addition includes a large stretch of Leon River so visitors can also fish and swim in the water.
"The fishermen will have even more banks to fish off of. It's going to be really nice to be able to put it up at one point in the park and be able to tube or canoe or float down to the other part of the park," Park Superintendent Leah Huth said.
The state park will be selling a different piece of property to pay for the 1.15 million dollar expansion.
The new area will be open to the public within a year.
