A Waco man was killed Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed into the driver of a pickup truck.

At 2:55 p.m., Waco officers responded to the crash in the 700 block of New Road. On the scene, they discovered a Ford F-250 pickup, driven by an 18-year-old female, was pulling out from the business driveway of the "Gift Horse" store onto New Road.

A 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Robert Charles Taplin, III, 20, of Waco, was traveling northbound on New Road when it crashed into the side of the pickup truck. Witnesses at the scene indicated the speed of the motorcycle may be a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.

Accident Reconstruction Investigators, Crime Scene Unit, Victim Services, and Waco Fire responded to assist with the scene. Judge Peterson pronounced Taplin dead at the scene.
