KILLEEN -- Due to child abductions in recent years in Killeen, police are starting a program designed to keep kids safe from potential attackers.
But they need your help.
The program is called KID WATCH and it's designed so responsible adults in the community can watch for suspicious individuals at school bus stops.
Now they're searching for volunteers to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement so our children stay safe.
"You know you don't think thinks like that could happen until they do, and then you learn from those things that happened and try to make things better and that's what we're trying to do is make things better," Carroll Smith with Killeen Police Department said.
A background check is mandatory to volunteer but if you're interested please contact the Killeen Police Department Child Safety Coordinator at (254) 200-7930 or jmartinez2@killeentexas.gov
