New report says FBI knew about Hasan, didn't take action
CENTRAL TEXAS -- A Texas lawmaker briefed on a new report about the deadly 2009 shootings at Fort Hood said the FBI knew about Major Nidal Hasan but didn't do anything about it.
According to the Associated Press, Republican Representative Michael McCaul says the FBI was too concerned about political correctness and did not launch an investigation into Hasan despite significant warning signs that he was an Islamic extremist bent on killing civilians.
He was later charged with killing 13 people in the massacre at Fort Hood.
The FBI is expected to release an unclassified version of the report sometime this week.
