WACO-- It's the largest state-of-the-art airport facility at any two year college in the country, and now it's open to the public.
The new 82-,000 sq.ft. TSTC Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center houses all aspects of aviation education along with the the amenities of a traditional airport.
"It's industry and education meeting in the same spot," Jeffrey Beene, Col. Ret. said.
TSTC students can now learn in a real working environment and get first-hand experience for their future careers
"This is hands on. This is a real airport, this is a real terminal, I have real airport operations going on here," he said.
The facility also allows TSTC students to fill a demand for aviation employees.
"There are many industries that have gaps in a technical base workforce. Aviation and aerospace just happen to be one of them."
From air traffic control, to flight simulations and detailed mechanics, the programs are all available in the multi-million dollar center.
Families can come out to the facility Saturday to test out their skills, check out the new equipment and learn a few things about aviation. There is also a FAA WINGS Safety Seminar from 12 pm to 1 pm.
