Killeen, Texas (KWKT) — Officer Juan Obregon was released from a local hospital today and is doing well. He will continue to be off work for an extended amount of time for his recovery.
Obregon was previously involved a pool disturbance that ended in the death of Officer Hornsby and him shot earlier in July.
Killeen Police Officers were called to a pool disturbance at Grandon Manor Apartments located at 1611 Grandon Drive.
Officers found a male inside the apartment holding a long rifle in a threatening manner.
The Tactical Response Unit was deployed and as they attempted to speak with the armed male, he fired one shot.
The officers attempted to take the suspect into custody when he backed into his apartment and armed himself with an AK47 and began shooting at the officers.
The shooting ended with the death of Officer Hornsby, injured Officer Obregon, and the death of the shooter.
