Officer Suffers Fractured Wrist in Arrest of Sword Wielding Suspect.

At 8:15 this morning Waco Officers were called to a theft call at the Discount Smoke Shop located at 1402 N. 34th.

The store clerk told 911 operators a male suspect was stealing items from the store and gave a description of suspect telling 911 that he had left the store.

Once officers arrived in the area they found the suspect,  Steven Walker Webb in the 3200 block of W. Edmond. Walker had taken several items from the store to include a 4 foot sword. Officer approached the suspect who was holding the sword and he refused to put it down. Officers were forced to Taze the suspect to take him into custody.

During the arrest one of the officers suffered a fractured wrist from taking Webb into custody. The injured officer was taken to a medical facility to be treated. He will be out injured for an unspecified amount of time.

Webb was taken to the McLennan County Jail where he is charged with Theft over $50.00, Possession of Marijuana under 5oz., and Resisting Arrest.
