West, TX — State and federal officials anticipate announcing the results of their joint investigation into what caused the explosion at the West fertilizer plant nearly a month ago. This announcement comes a week after their originally anticipated date.
A press conference is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the West high school parking lot.
The April 17 blast killed 15 people and injured a couple hundred others. Officials believe ammonium nitrate exploded at the plant, which has left an approximately 90-foot-wide crater. But, they've still been investigating as to what caused it this stored chemical to explode.
