Two burglaries end in the arrest of a fleeing thief.

It happened at 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon when officers were called to two separate burglaries in the 1300 block of Royal Oaks.

As officers were working the break-ins they came in contact with neighboring homes and they notified them of the occurences.

One of the home owners in the neighborhood later spotted two individuals matching the description given by one of the officers and notifcied police.

Those suspects were carrying the stolen property away from the area.

Officers were called to Laporte and Bosque where the two suspects were spotted and became involved in a foot chase.

One man, Zachary Dean Hicks, 19, was captured, arrested, and charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation and one count of criminal mischief because he damaged a partol car by kicking the windows when put into the police car.

The other man was temporarily able to evade police.

Officers were able to recover all the stolen property from the two burglaries and found additional property we believe may be related to a third burglary reported late Monday afternoon.

Police are working to clear the third burglary as well and additional charges may be filed at a later time.

A quick thinking neighbor and good police work has led to the arrest of a burglary and will most likely result in an additional arrest as the other individual is identified.
