Parade to shut down parts of Harker Heights roads
With approval of the Texas Department of Transportation, FM 2410/Knight’s Way from Harker Heights High School to Walgreen’s will be closed from 9:15 am – 11:00 am on Saturday, May 26, for the City of Harker Heights Memorial Parade.
The parade will begin at 9:30 am starting at Harker Heights High School and proceed north on FM 2410/Knight’s Way; turning right onto Miller’s Crossing to continue to the Harker Heights City Hall. As soon as the parade traffic clears, FM 2410/Knight’s Way will reopen.
Following the parade, a Memorial Ceremony will begin at the Veteran’s Monument in front of City Hall. The ceremony features the traditional wreath laying to honor those who gave their lives. LTG Donald M. Campbell, Jr. Commanding General of III Corps and Fort Hood, Congressman John Carter, and City of Harker Heights’ Mayor Mike Aycock will address the public at the ceremony.
Prior to the parade, is the MDA Memorial Day 5K / 10K Run starting at 7:00 am with 6:00 am onsite registration in Carl Levin Park. Later in the day, Carl Levin Pool will open from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm and the Mid-Texas Corvette Club will sponsor an open car show at the Harker Heights Community Park from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
ERA Colonial Real Estate will host the 14th Annual Pat Patton MDA Fish Fry at Carl Levin Park from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 26.
