Pedestrian struck by pick-up truck remains in critical condition

A Waco area man remains in critical condition at a local hospital, after being struck by a pick-up truck Monday evening.

The accident ocurred in the 600 block of North Valley Mills Drive, around 5:45 p.m. on Monday.

According to police, a a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up was traveling northbound on Valley Mills when the male victim crossed into the truck's path, causing the truck to strike him. The truck hit the pedestrian causing severe injuries. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was interviewed and released. 

Police say witnesses told them the victim was at a bar (Mr. Magoo’s) in the area and may have been under the influence of alcohol. It is believed the victim left the bar and wandered into traffic where he was hit by the pick-up truck.

The victim is known to police, but they are not releasing his name, pending notification of family. He is a 55-year-old male from the Waco area. He was taken to Hillcrest by ETMC and is listed in “Critical” condition.
