The Killeen Police and Fire Departments and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a 911 call around 9:30a.m. Saturday, in reference to a possible plane crash in the area of Roy Reynolds and Veterans Memorial Blvd.

As the officers were responding, the pilot called 911 and said that he landed in some trees approximately 200 meters east of Skylark Airfield. Upon the officers arrival, they were unable to see where the plane landed. The officers searched for several minutes until they heard the pilot’s voice, at which time he guided them to his location.

The pilot told them he had just taken off from the Skylark Airfield when his aircraft experienced engine failure. The 56-year old pilot safely landed the aircraft in a heavily wooded area northeast of the Skylark Airfield, behind the Fast Eddies Tire Repair business. The pilot was not injured in this incident.
