BRYAN -- 230 new jobs in the Bryan-College Station community thanks to a Mexico-based company that broke ground today at the Texas Triangle Park in Bryan.
It may be a lot full of trees and overgrown grass right now but in a few short months this site will be home to a new 110,000 square foot production facility.
"We are going to produce our own bottles, labels and we're going to bottle our own cooking oil," said Erick Garcia, President and CEO of Gunler, Inc.
Situated right off Highway Six and next to the railroads, it's the prime location that attracted Gunler Inc. to be the first to settle in the Texas Triangle Park.
Garcia said, "We're located right between Houston, San Antonio and Austin so it's perfect because you can distribute all over Texas, the United States and Mexico."
And Mayor Bienski says it's a good sign of future growth in the area.
"Our job as elected officials is to bring companies here and expand our tax base and bring job opportunities for our citizens here," Bienski said. "For the unemployed and the under employed."
Gunler Inc. plans to hire around 250 full-time employees and have an annual payroll of around $6.5 million dollars a year.
Crews are coming in later this week to begin clearing the land in order to get construction complete in less than six months.
Gunler Inc. will begin the hiring process within the next couple of months and they tell us both facilities should be up and operating by February.
