Midway, TX — Thursday is the last day to register for voting in the May elections happening around Central Texas.
Local elections typically bring out less voters, especially when it's not a presidential election year. However, officials say it is still important to go out and voice your opinion.
Midway ISD is one of four districts, along with Lorena, McGregor, and China Springs voting on bond issues. For Midway, the $34.5 million will go toward technology, maintenance, transportation, and extracurricular activities. The proposed bond will not raise school tax rates.
"It's important to let your voice be heard, no matter how you feel about any bond election or school board election. But, we want our citizens to be involved in those decisions. And so, you can register online. You can register with the county. You need to do that by tomorrow, April 11th," said Midway ISD spokeswoman Traci Marlin.
Early voting begins on April 29. Election day is May 11.
