Waco, Texas — A Riesel man was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated robbery on Wednesday.
Ruben Miguel Alaniz, 28, was arrested in 2012 for reportedly robbing a mentally disabled man in Bellmead city park. Alaniz reportedly stole a ten year McDonald's anniversary service ring from the man.
“Ruben Alaniz has spent his adult life creating victims of the good people of this county. With the jury’s verdict today, we all are safe from his torment. He earned every minute of his sentence,” said Michael Jarrett, Senior Assistant District Attorney.
While in jail, Alaniz was also charged with two warrants of aggravated robbery of two people at knife-point on the suspension bridge in Waco. The robbery took place around 1:45 a.m. September 27, 2012. This case, however, was not a part of this trial.
