Wednesday, TXU and The Salvation Army teamed up to bring some holiday cheer to a Waco mom and her seven children.

The family was provided with a Christmas tree, along with holiday decorations and presents for each of the kids. TXU also provided free tips on saving money this holiday season. That includes using LED lights, setting your thermostat to 68 degrees and allow natural lighting in your home, and using timers to turn off all your holiday displays.

"It takes quite a bit of money, you know, during these days to provide the things that the kids are looking for. They wouldn't have a tree. They wouldn't have the decorations. They just wouldn't have the things that TXU is providing them today," said Major Dan Ford of The Salvation Army in Waco.

Each year, The Salvation Army picks one family from each area to provide with Christmas gifts.
